A three-year-old boy who walked up to an elderly man eating alone and kept him company has deeply moved people online, The Financial News reported.
According to local broadcaster KFOR-TV in Oklahoma City on the 30th of last month (local time), three-year-old Hudson was having breakfast at McDonald's with his mother, Ashlyn Drew, when he noticed an elderly man sitting by himself.
Hudson asked his mother, "Where are that grandpa's kids?" When Drew replied, "They're probably all grown up and have left home," he walked over to the man without hesitation.
Hudson asked the man, "Can I sit next to you?" After the man said yes, Hudson climbed up on the chair and the two ate side by side.
Even while eating, Hudson kept making eye contact with the man and smiling, which brought smiles to the faces of other customers at nearby tables as well.
Drew later posted a video of her son on TikTok, writing, "Maybe the grandpa looked sad eating alone, because Hudson picked up his food and went to sit beside him. I felt proud and deeply moved at the same time." She added, "Hudson has been a child who lights up the world since the day he was born. He treats everyone without discrimination and loves everybody."
The video has been viewed more than 1.2 million times. The official social networking service (SNS) account of Pizza Hut commented, "Pass me a tissue," while laundry detergent brand Gain wrote, "This is what life is all about."
Drew later learned something even more surprising. The elderly man who shared a meal with Hudson had been a close friend of Hudson's late great-grandfather.
"Many older people spend time alone and feel lonely," Drew said. "A single warm smile can be a great comfort. If you sit and talk with them, you can hear some truly wonderful stories."
Readers who heard the story reacted by saying, "A child's pure heart teaches adults an important lesson," "Isn't he a little angel?" and "That man was probably happy for the entire week."
