[The Financial News] A Chinese man in his 60s who obtained permanent residency and had lived in Korea for nearly 20 years gave four people a new lease on life through organ donation after brain death.
On the 30th, the Korea Organ Donation Agency announced that 65-year-old Kim Yong-gil donated his lungs, liver, and both kidneys at Korea University Guro Hospital on the 5th of last month, saving four precious lives.
Kim reportedly suffered a headache on the morning of the 2nd of last month and called the emergency hotline, 119, to be taken to the hospital, but sadly never regained consciousness.
Born in 1960 in Changchun, China, the fourth of three sons and two daughters, Kim came to Korea in 2008 and obtained permanent residency. He worked in restaurants and construction, doing welding jobs, and lived his life helping neighbors in need.
According to his family, Kim was always a loving husband to his wife and a caring father to his children, even when daily life was difficult. He was deeply saddened when a close friend, who had long suffered from kidney failure, died without receiving a transplant, and he is said to have expressed his wish to donate his own organs.
Kim’s wife, Park In-suk, offered her final farewell, saying, "Honey, thank you so much for treating me so well during all the time we had together. I love you. Rest in peace in heaven, and just as you always did, keep helping those in need there too. Don’t be in pain anymore, and live happily."
