[Financial News] Cheong Wa Dae stated that on the 30th, the 300th day of President Lee Jae Myung’s term, it launched its official website to put into practice the governing philosophy of “realizing popular sovereignty” and “participation and communication.”
Cheong Wa Dae explained that, because President Lee began his term immediately without a separate transition committee amid the national crisis of the previous president’s impeachment, it had been operating a temporary website to save costs and minimize administrative gaps. Marking the 300th day in office, it has now unveiled a full official website where citizens can directly participate as the main actors in state affairs.
The key feature of the revamped Cheong Wa Dae website is the creation of three new citizen-participation menus. The overhaul aims to move citizens beyond simply consuming information, and instead create a “participatory space” where they can produce content on state affairs and propose policies themselves.
Among the website menus, “Moments with the President” is a space where individuals can upload cherished photos they have taken with the president, which are stored on their mobile phones. Once a photo with the president is submitted, it will be posted on the website after a simple verification process.
“My Own Digital Goods” is a participatory board where citizens can propose and share various digital content, such as smartphone wallpapers and smartwatch faces that they design themselves. Any content creatively produced by citizens can be freely downloaded and used by anyone.
“Everyday Policies You Can Relate To” is a section for introducing and proposing policy ideas that directly affect people’s daily lives. It is intended to serve as an open communication channel where anyone can participate, so that citizens’ valuable voices can become a compass for the Lee administration’s governance.
Cheong Wa Dae also stressed that this website renewal focuses on enhancing transparency and convenience in the conduct of state affairs.
In particular, it has created a new “List of Information for Prior Disclosure.” In line with the philosophy of a government based on popular sovereignty that pursues transparency, this list proactively discloses the information holdings of major Cheong Wa Dae departments. The measure is intended to guarantee the public’s right to know and improve administrative transparency.
Cheong Wa Dae added that it has strengthened functions that allow users to view the activities of President Lee and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung by topic, and that it has built an interface optimized for all digital devices.
Cheong Wa Dae stated, “The opening of this official website is both a way to share with the public the achievements of the past 300 days, during which we have moved forward without a transition committee, and a strong declaration of our intent to design the future of state affairs together with the people,” adding, “True to the name Cheong Wa Dae, we will operate this as a space where the voices of the people resonate from the highest place.”
