BTS, returning as a full seven-member group for the first time in three years and nine months, has seen its fifth studio album "Arirang" debut at No. 1 on the UK Official Albums Chart and No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart, drawing attention to how it will perform on next week's Billboard Hot 100 and albums chart in the United States.
According to the UK Official Charts on the 28th (Korea time), "Arirang" claimed the top spot on the Official Albums Chart Top 100, beating strong contenders such as Luke Combs' "The Way I Am." This marks BTS' third No. 1 on this chart, following "Map of the Soul: Persona" and "Map of the Soul: 7."
The album's title track "SWIM" set a new personal best for the group by reaching No. 2 on this week's UK Singles Chart Top 100, just behind Olivia Dean's "Rein Me In." Until now, BTS' highest position on the UK Singles Chart had been No. 3 with hits such as "Dynamite," "Butter," and "My Universe."
In addition, "Body to Body," which incorporates the melody of "Arirang," and the high-energy track "FYA" ranked at No. 28 and No. 39, respectively. As a result, three of the 14 tracks from the fifth album have entered the UK Singles Chart Top 100.
The comeback album "Arirang" explores the members' identities and the universal emotions they face. By naming the album after Korea's representative folk song, the group expresses both its roots and the feelings shared by the seven members today through music.
