[The Financial News] The comeback fever of BTS (Bangtan Boys) has spread beyond Seoul, electrifying the night skies over New York City and London.
According to Big Hit Music on the 26th, BTS released a compilation video titled “BTS THE CITY ARIRANG” on its official YouTube channel at 10:30 p.m. the previous day. The project is a global event that turns major cities around the world into one massive festival space and immersive media stage to celebrate the group’s comeback.
London’s South Bank and Brooklyn Bridge in New York City also joined in this wave. The London Eye, one of London’s most iconic landmarks, was lit up in a vivid red glow, while a media facade projected images of the members holding traditional lanterns and the album logo across nearby building exteriors.
In New York City, hundreds of drones performed a synchronized aerial show against the backdrop of the Manhattan skyline, painting the night sky with light. The messages “NEW YORK, WHAT IS YOUR LOVE SONG?”, “Arirang”, “BTS”, and the number “7” symbolizing the seven members appeared clearly in the air. A formation inspired by the Big Dipper added a moving, borderless sense of connection.
Various media facades also lit up the heart of Seoul.
A spectacular media facade unfolding in the very center of Seoul was vividly captured in the video. Shinsegae Square drew attention with 3D visuals so lifelike it seemed the members might leap out of the screen at any moment. A media facade projected onto the walls of Sungnyemun Gate (Namdaemun), designated as National Treasure No. 1, majestically depicted the silhouettes of BTS strolling along. The Sungnyemun Gate media facade was staged on the 20th to commemorate the group’s comeback. The festive atmosphere spread throughout the city. N Seoul Tower displayed the “Arirang” album logo, while thousands of drones over Ttukseom Hangang Park rendered the faces of the seven members with astonishing precision, drawing cheers from on-site spectators. At Yeouido Hangang Park, the “Love Song Lounge” kept citizens lingering late into the night with busking performances and a variety of interactive events.
“BTS THE CITY ARIRANG” has become a festival that links Seoul, London, and New York City into one. In Seoul, programs showcasing different charms of the city, including the “DDP ARMY Yard” at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) and the “Love Quarter” along Cheonggyecheon Stream, are set to open.
