The flight carrying Park from Clark, Philippines, arrived at Incheon International Airport at around 6:34 a.m. that day. Wearing a baseball cap pulled low and sporting a beard, he appeared at the arrivals hall at about 7:17 a.m. In response to reporters asking, "Did you personally direct your associates via Telegram Messenger?", "How were you able to operate on Telegram Messenger from inside prison?", and "How do you feel about being extradited today?", Park remained silent and was transported to the Northern Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency Regional Crime Investigation Unit.
The Special Task Force on Transnational Crimes, which includes the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, and the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA), assessed this extradition as a key outcome of the recent summit between the leaders of Korea and the Philippines.
Yoo Seung-yeol, Assistant Commissioner and Director General for Investigation Planning and Coordination at the National Police Agency, stated at a press briefing held at Incheon International Airport, "Today’s extradition is the result of close cooperation among government agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea and the National Intelligence Service (NIS), based on an arrest warrant issued by the prosecution."
Lee Ji-yeon, Director of the International Criminal Affairs Division, Ministry of Justice, also noted, "This outcome was achieved through close cooperation among Korean authorities, the Philippine Department of Justice, and the ambassadors of both countries," adding, "The suspect will be immediately handed over to investigative authorities for a thorough investigation, and devices such as the suspect’s mobile phone, secured through this extradition operation, will undergo detailed analysis."
