KOSPI pares gains around 5,660 as foreign investors turn to net selling amid institutional buying [Afternoon Market Snapshot]

According to The Financial News, the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) is trading around the 5,660 level, trimming earlier gains as foreign investors have shifted to net selling while institutions continue to buy.
As of 2:20 p.m. on the 25th, the KOSPI was at 5,660.71, down 106.79 points, or 1.92%, from the previous session. The index opened 2.28% higher at 5,680.33 and at one point climbed to 5,740.97, but it gave back part of its gains in the afternoon.
On the Stock Market Division of the Korea Exchange, institutional investors are net buyers of 2.114 trillion won. In contrast, retail investors and foreign investors are net sellers of 1.5422 trillion won and 837.6 billion won, respectively.
Most sectors are trading higher. In particular, securities are up 6.86%, medical and precision instruments 5.38%, construction 3.50%, insurance 3.28%, paper and lumber 2.98%, financials 2.98%, and pharmaceuticals 2.83%. Electric and gas utilities are down 0.49%, and non-metallic minerals are off 0.16%.
Among large-cap stocks by market capitalization, Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, Hyundai Motor Company, SK Square, Samsung Biologics, Hanwha Aerospace, Doosan Enerbility, and Kia Corporation are all showing strength, rising 0.34%, 0.61%, 1.83%, 1.34%, 2.52%, 4.12%, 2.60%, and 0.32%, respectively. LG Energy Solution and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries are weaker, down 0.70% and 0.39%.
At the same time, KOSDAQ (Korea Securities Dealers Automated Quotations) is trading at 1,156.80, up 35.36 points, or 3.15%, from the previous session. The index opened 1.06% higher at 1,133.31 and has extended its gains since the open.
On KOSDAQ, foreign investors are net buyers of 306.3 billion won. Meanwhile, retail investors and institutions are net sellers of 289.9 billion won and 10.7 billion won, respectively.
