According to The Financial News, it has belatedly come to light that a teenager who was sentenced to prison for abducting and raping a woman in her 40s committed another sex crime in prison against a fellow inmate.
According to MoneyToday on the 24th, Daegu District Court Gimcheon Branch Criminal Division 1 last November sentenced Mr. Yoon (19), who had been indicted on charges including quasi-rape, aggravated unlawful confinement, coercion, assault, and intimidation, to a maximum of four years and a minimum of two years and six months in prison.
The court also ordered Mr. Yoon to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program and imposed a five-year employment restriction.
In September 2024, Mr. Yoon allegedly subjected a 16-year-old inmate, identified as A, who was housed in the same cell, to repeated sexual abuse and physical assault.
The investigation found that Mr. Yoon assaulted inmate A by forcing him to lie on the floor, covering his face with a blanket, and punching him in the pit of the stomach and in the side. He also reportedly tied A’s hands and pushed his head into a toilet, subjecting him to cruel treatment.
Mr. Yoon also demanded every day that A perform the Zero Two dance, which is popular on social networking service (SNS), and moan while doing it. When A refused, Yoon beat him, and he is said to have forced A to ingest his bodily fluids.
Mr. Yoon allegedly threatened inmate A by saying, "If you report this, I’ll spread word around the cell block about what happened to you. Do you really think anyone will help you?" and "I’ve already been sentenced to seven years in prison, so I have nothing more to lose."
Mr. Yoon appealed the first-instance ruling. The appellate judgment was handed down on the 12th of last month, but the specific outcome of the appeal has not yet been made public. If the original verdict is upheld, his expected release date is projected to fall between April 2031 and as late as October 2034.
Previously, in October 2023, when he was a 15-year-old middle school student, Mr. Yoon approached a woman in her 40s, identified as B, who was on her way home in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, by offering her a ride on his motorcycle. After she got on, he took her to an elementary school and raped her, for which he was sentenced to a maximum of seven years and a minimum of five years in prison.
At that time, Mr. Yoon stole the victim’s clothes, money, and mobile phone, and even forced her to drink his urine. He also illegally filmed parts of victim B’s body and threatened to distribute the footage, which sparked widespread public outrage.
