According to reporter Kang In of The Financial News' Jeonju bureau, a teenage suspect who smashed his way into a jewelry shop and fled with stolen valuables was quickly arrested by police.
Gimje Police Station, Jeollabuk-do, announced on the 24th that it had arrested a teenage boy, identified only as A, on suspicion of aggravated theft.
At around 5:10 a.m. that day, A allegedly broke the front door and windows of a jewelry store in Geomsan-dong, Gimje City, then entered the shop and stole about 40 pieces of jewelry, including bracelets and necklaces, before fleeing.
Responding to a report, police tracked the suspect and apprehended A at a jjimjilbang in the Jeonju area about six hours after the crime occurred.
Police have recovered the stolen jewelry and are investigating A's motive and whether he committed any additional offenses.
