“The King’s Warden” tops all-time box-office revenue, ranks third in admissions... now chasing “The Admiral: Roaring Currents” and “Extreme Job”

According to The Financial News, “The King’s Warden” has drawn a cumulative 14.57 million moviegoers, rising to third place on the all-time box-office admissions chart. However, in terms of cumulative revenue, it ranks first of all time with 142.5 billion won.
Data from the Korean Box Office Information System (KOBIS) on March 23 show that “The King’s Warden” attracted about 803,000 viewers between March 20 and 22, capturing 52.2% of total box-office revenue and holding onto the No. 1 spot. Its cumulative admissions have reached about 14.757 million, placing it third among all releases in Korean box-office history.
Over the past weekend, it successively surpassed the records of “Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds” (2017, 14.41 million admissions) and “Ode to My Father” (2014, 14.25 million). The only films still ahead of it now are No. 1 “The Admiral: Roaring Currents” (2014, 17.61 million) and No. 2 “Extreme Job” (2019, 16.26 million).
Measured by cumulative revenue, the film has already taken the top spot, helped in part by higher ticket prices. “The King’s Warden” has earned 142.5 billion won in total, surpassing the 135.7 billion won of “The Admiral: Roaring Currents” and the 139.6 billion won of “Extreme Job.”
“Project Hail Mary,” based on the novel of the same name, opened on March 18 but failed to unseat “The King’s Warden.” It drew about 430,000 viewers over the weekend, with a 32.5% share of box-office revenue, and its cumulative admissions stand at about 561,000, placing it second at the weekend box office.
