[The Financial News] On the eve of "BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG," a full-group comeback concert by BTS (Bangtan Boys) to be held at 8 p.m. on the 21st at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul Special Metropolitan City, the venue is filled with a mix of nervousness and excitement. Fans have gathered from all over the world, and intensive safety checks are underway.
This is the group’s first full-member stage in three years and nine months since completing military service, and it is turning the entire downtown area of Seoul Special Metropolitan City into a festival rather than just a concert. The performance is the first official stage celebrating the release of BTS’s new album "Arirang."
According to the organizers, a total of 87 performers, including a traditional Korean music ensemble, will take the stage, with members of the Super Bowl production team participating to maximize the historical symbolism of Gwanghwamun. The special stage set up at Yukjo Madang has been designed to blend traditional Korean aesthetics with modern technology, and just before the opening, the three gates of Gwanghwamun will open to reveal the members.
The Government of the Republic of Korea and the Seoul Metropolitan Government estimate that up to 260,000 people may flock to the event and have activated unprecedented safety measures. Seventy-two police riot units and special forces, totaling more than 6,700 personnel, will be deployed on site, and including event staff, around 15,000 people will be involved in safety management.
From 9 p.m. on the 20th, the day before the show, traffic around Sejong-daero will be gradually restricted. On the 21st, the day of the concert, some exits at Gwanghwamun Station, City Hall Station, and Gyeongbokgung Station will be closed, and trains may pass through without stopping depending on conditions. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety has issued a "caution" level crowd-disaster alert for the Jongno District and Jung District, Seoul, and has strengthened real-time monitoring systems.
The economic ripple effects around Gwanghwamun are also becoming visible. Major hotels in the Jongno and City Hall areas have already sold out as reservations from overseas fans poured in. Nearby businesses have launched marketing campaigns using the color purple and are fully enjoying the so-called "BTS boom."
One overseas fan we met at the scene said, "I’ve been waiting for years for this moment when all the members are back together," adding, "Seeing them in person at Gwanghwamun, the heart of Korea, will be an experience I will never forget."
