The Financial News reported that President Lee Jae Myung has called for thorough preparations to prevent confusion at arrival halls, as large numbers of tourists are expected for the "BTS (Bangtan Boys) Comeback Live" concert to be held around Gwanghwamun Square on the 21st.
Presiding over a senior secretaries' meeting at Cheong Wa Dae on the 19th, President Lee said, "Because of this weekend's BTS concert, the number of foreign tourists is expected to surge temporarily, and I am told the arrival halls at Incheon International Airport (ICN) will be extremely crowded. Active measures are needed to reduce confusion and inconvenience on site."
He went on, "The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) began implementing special immigration screening measures yesterday, and it should swiftly deploy the necessary personnel and equipment in a focused way," adding, "The appearance of the arrival hall shapes a country's first impression."
Lee continued, "I hope we can use this opportunity to comprehensively review all airport arrival services and quickly improve any areas that need to be supplemented," stressing, "We must remember that the leap into an era of 30 million inbound tourists does not come from something grand and spectacular, but starts with small and meticulous details."
He added, "Because major congestion is anticipated in connection with the BTS concert, it seems some people are feeling inconvenienced as certain restrictions have been put in place to maintain order," and requested, "Please ensure that order is properly maintained while also taking meticulous care so that our citizens do not experience inconvenience."
