The Financial News – Coupang’s weekly active users (WAU) are rebounding, approaching the level seen before its personal data leak incident.
According to IGAWorks’ Mobile Index on the 19th, Coupang’s WAU, measured from December 1 last year to the 15th of this month, reached 28,281,963 during the week of the 9th to 15th. This is 2.8% lower than the figure recorded immediately after the data leak incident, which stood at 29,080,952.
At that time, Coupang temporarily saw an increase in users during a system check, but some customers left afterward, causing WAU to fall into the 26 million range. On January 15, however, the company offered vouchers worth up to 50,000 won to affected customers, and user numbers rebounded to the 27 million range.
This month, WAU has climbed back into the 28 million range, returning to a level similar to that before the incident.
Amid this recovery trend, Coupang also adjusted the free Rocket Delivery threshold for customers who are not subscribed to the Coupang Wow Membership. Previously, orders of at least 19,800 won before coupons and discounts qualified for free delivery. Going forward, the final payment amount must meet the same 19,800 won threshold for free delivery to apply.
