[The Financial News] As Netflix’s "KPop Demon Hunters" took home two trophies at the Academy Awards—Best Original Song and Best Animated Feature—the outfit worn by EJAE, vocalist of the winning song "Golden," is drawing attention.
On March 16, a domestic fashion brand posted the outfit EJAE wore to the Academy Awards on its official social media account. The brand stated, "EJAE’s outfit for this year’s Oscars began with the imperial formal ceremonial robe of the Korean Empire," revealing the story behind the Academy Awards dress.
According to the brand, EJAE’s dress visually interprets the "shining moment" conveyed in "Golden." The brand explained, "At the heart of the outfit is the mugunghwa (rose of Sharon), the national flower of South Korea. This blossom, which blooms, withers, and blooms again countless times, symbolizes eternity, perseverance, and undying life."
The brand added, "Around it runs a scrolling vine pattern that represents the flow of life and prosperity, further expanding the sense of eternity embodied by the mugunghwa (rose of Sharon)." It continued, "The outfit is grounded in pure white, symbolizing the ‘White-clothed People’—a traditional epithet for Koreans—and is completed with gilt-bronze ornaments reminiscent of an ancient Korean gold crown. All metal decorations were crafted using traditional techniques and were completed one by one by the hands of a Duseokjang, a master artisan of Korean metalcraft."
EJAE attended the 98th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles (LA), State of California, on March 15 (local time) wearing the dress. She was there as both lyricist and vocalist of "Golden," which won Best Original Song, and joined Audrey Nuna and REI AMI on stage for a celebratory performance of "Golden."
