[Financial News] SOOP announced on the 17th that it will hold a regular online Go tournament, the "Sosohui SOOP League," in collaboration with Sosohui, a research group of professional players affiliated with the Korea Baduk Association.
The Sosohui SOOP League is an online Go tournament that makes use of streaming platforms. Moving away from the traditional offline match format, games are broadcast through the professional players' personal streaming channels.
The tournament follows a round-of-16 knockout format. On the first day of the round of 16, held on the 16th, professional players Cho Sang-yeon, Kim Sang-yun and Kim Sa-u advanced to the quarterfinals. Young professionals such as 9-dan Song Jihoon, 6-dan Geum Ji-woo, 2-dan Yoon Rae-eun and 1-dan Ko Yoon-seo are taking part. Matches are held every Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m.
SOOP also supports one-person live streaming activities by Sosohui-affiliated players. Through these broadcasts, professional Go players directly interact with fans, reviewing games and discussing Go.
Schedules for the online Go tournament and the professionals' live broadcasts can be found on the SOOP Official Go Broadcasting Channel.
