[Financial News] It has been confirmed that an employee at Emart intercepted mobile gift certificates that NCT Dream member Na Jae-min had sent as presents to his fans.
On the 17th, Shinsegae Group stated, "We have confirmed that an employee at the Gumi Branch pre-redeemed nine 100,000-won vouchers," adding, "We are conducting an internal investigation into the detailed circumstances."
Earlier, on the night of the 14th, Na Jae-min marked White Day by sending his fans 30 Shinsegae Gift Certificates worth 100,000 won each (a total of 3 million won) in the form of mobile gifticons.
Fans visited the store as soon as it opened the next day to exchange the gifticons for paper gift certificates. However, some of the vouchers were found to have already been redeemed.
An investigation revealed that the vouchers had been used at the Emart Gumi store. Through social networking service (SNS) posts, suspicions spread that a staff member at that location had used their employee privileges to claim the vouchers in advance. As inquiries from fans poured in, Shinsegae Group launched an internal probe.
The investigation confirmed that an Emart employee had pre-redeemed nine of the 100,000-won vouchers.
Shinsegae Group apologized, saying, "We are sorry for causing inconvenience to customers using Emart."
The company added, "Based on the results of the investigation, we will take action in line with our internal standards and principles, and we will strengthen management rules related to issuing and exchanging gift certificates to prevent a recurrence."
