[The Financial News] Ahead of BTS (Bangtan Boys)' live-streamed concert on Netflix, a local math academy in the Republic of India (India) has drawn attention by sending parents an official notice warning against mass absences.
On the 16th, various online communities began rapidly sharing a notice that a local math academy in India had sent to parents.
In the notice, the academy wrote, "Dear parents, please be aware that if your child tells you there is no class on March 21, this is not true."
The notice continued, "We have received information that students are planning to skip class together to watch a BTS live concert on Netflix," adding, "That day is not a holiday. Strict measures will be taken against any student who is absent without a valid reason."
New Delhi in India is about three and a half hours behind Seoul. The concert is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. Korea time, which is 4:30 p.m. locally, overlapping with academy class hours.
India is considered one of the countries where the BTS fandom ARMY is particularly strong. As many students were expected to call in sick or cite family events to be absent during the concert time, the academy is reported to have taken preemptive action.
BTS is set to hold a concert at 8 p.m. on the 21st (Korea time) at Gwanghwamun in Seoul, and it will be broadcast live on Netflix.
Online commenters reacted to the story by saying, "How could you possibly skip a BTS live concert? Getting scolded for a day is better," "Thanks to BTS, the academy is now famous, so they should just cancel classes for the day," and "Some parents might want to go even more than their kids."
