HANOI, Vietnam — Samsung Electronics' next-generation smartphone, the Galaxy S26 series, is enjoying explosive success in Vietnam, breaking the sales records set by its predecessor immediately after launch. Demand has been so strong that some retailers are already running out of white and purple models, drawing intense interest from local consumers.
According to local media on the 16th, the Galaxy S26 series has seen long lines of customers since official sales began in Vietnam on the 6th. Major distributors such as FPT Shop and Viettel Store reported that sales of the Galaxy S26 series have surged dramatically compared with the previous generation, and said the top-tier Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra has been setting record-breaking numbers from pre-orders through to the official release.
A representative at FPT Shop stated, "Among the S26 series, the Ultra model accounts for the largest share of sales, and demand for the purple color in particular is overwhelming," adding, "Samsung's new product is maintaining solid demand in the premium segment."
At Viettel Store, first-day sales more than doubled compared with a year earlier. The popularity of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra has continued after launch, and in some outlets the white and silver models sold out quickly, leaving customers waiting for restocks.
Market-wide statistics for Vietnam show that sales of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra during the first three days after launch were about 20% higher than those of its predecessor. Notably, this was achieved even though this year's pre-order period was shortened to eight days, down sharply from 24 days last year. So far, more than 90% of Galaxy S26 series buyers have chosen the Ultra model.
By storage capacity, the 512GB model has shown particularly strong growth. Sales of the 512GB version have doubled year-on-year and now account for more than 60% of total series sales.
Local distributors expect that "the Ultra boom will last much longer than it did for the previous model." Retailers forecast that the S26 series will maintain growth of around 20% in the first quarter of this year, and they have brought in additional stock between the 13th and 16th to ease shortages.
Vietnamese users are expressing high satisfaction with the design and performance of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. In particular, the Exynos 2600 processor built on a 2-nanometer process has significantly improved computing speed and power efficiency, earning positive reviews. On top of that, enhancements to the camera and battery, a range of artificial intelligence (AI) features, and the first-ever application of Active Privacy Protection (anti-peeping) technology to a smartphone display are all being praised by users.
