According to Financial News, BTS will turn all of Seoul into a festival to mark their comeback. THE CITY SEOUL, an urban project that combines a drone show, media façades, and experiential programs, will run for a month at locations across the city, including Gwanghwamun, N Seoul Tower, and Hangang Park. THE CITY SEOUL is an urban project that will unfold throughout the downtown area from the 20th to April 19.
THE CITY SEOUL project kicks off
On the 16th, BTS posted detailed information on the program "BTS THE CITY ARIRANG SEOUL" on the global superfan platform Weverse.
On the 20th, when the new album "Arirang" is released, a series of major events will take place. From 7 p.m., media façades will light up Sungnyemun Gate (Namdaemun), N Seoul Tower, and other landmarks. From 8:30 p.m., the sky above Ttukseom Hangang Park will glow for about 15 minutes with a drone light show.
Gwanghwamun Square will also be filled with a festive atmosphere. From 7 p.m. on the 20th until midnight on the 21st, large outdoor screens installed around the square will broadcast content related to BTS’s comeback. At Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) and the Banpodaegyo Bridge Moonlight Rainbow Fountain at Banpo Bridge, music light shows will be held. The DDP show will run from March 20 to April 12, and the Banpo Bridge program will take place on March 21–22, offering visitors a romantic experience.
There will be plenty to do as well as to see. Visitors to Yeouido, DDP, Shinsegae Square, and other venues hosting THE CITY programs can take part in a "Stamp Rally" mission to collect visit stamps. While enjoying the fun of collecting stamps, participants are expected to have the chance to explore all across Seoul.
Music to fill the Event Plaza at Yeouido Hangang Park
From March 20 to 22, the Event Plaza at Yeouido Hangang Park will be transformed into a space filled with music. The "Love Song Lounge," where people can share and listen to music, will be in operation. In particular, this space is tied to the global campaign slogan for the new album, "What Is Your Love Song?" and is expected to draw strong interest from fans. Visitors will be able to enjoy experiential content centered on songs, busking performances, and photo zones.
From April 6 to 12, DDP Exhibition Hall 1 will be turned into "DDP ARMY Square." From April 6 to 19, areas such as Cheonggyecheon Stream and Yongsan Station will host the "Love Quarter" program, drawing in passersby. Using stone walls, stairways, and street trees as backdrops, media installations of light and video will express the messages of BTS’s new album.
In addition, programs linked to mobility, accommodation, finance, and Food and Beverage (F&B) will be introduced. These are designed to make it easier for visitors to get around and to expand opportunities to experience THE CITY in everyday life.
Detailed schedules and program information for THE CITY SEOUL can be found on BTS’s Weverse channel and official website. Some programs will require advance reservations. BTS THE CITY ARIRANG will start in Seoul and then roll out sequentially in major cities around the world.
