[Financial News] The Netflix animated film "KPop Demon Hunters" has won the Best Animated Feature award at the Academy Awards (the Oscars).
Kedehun was announced as the winner of Best Animated Feature at the 98th Academy Awards, held on the 15th (local time) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, L.A.
As the film’s theme song "Golden" played and she walked onto the stage in a red dress, director Maggie Kang said, "I’m sorry it took so long for a movie like this, with people who look like me as the main characters, to be made. The next generation won’t have to wait," adding in a trembling voice, "I dedicate this award to Korea and to Koreans all around the world."
Kedehun is an animated film about Huntrix, a girl group of demon hunters, who battle Saja Boys, a demon boy band that preys on people’s souls.
Since its release in June last year, the film has become a sensational hit. With more than 500 million cumulative views worldwide, it surpassed the series "Squid Game" to become the most-watched Netflix title of all time.
