New York City (Financial News) — Reporter Lee Byung-chulAs the United States and Israel wage war against the Islamic Republic of Iran, President Donald Trump has publicly raised the possibility of Russian involvement. President Donald Trump said that Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, may be helping the Islamic Republic of Iran to some extent. He also noted that the United States is supporting Ukraine, which is at war with Russia, underscoring what he described as the realities of international politics.
In a radio interview on the 13th (local time) with Fox News host Brian Kilmeade, President Donald Trump was asked, "Do you think Putin is helping Iran?" He replied, "I think he may be helping a little bit."
He went on to say, "Putin probably thinks we are helping Ukraine," adding, "They do it, and we do it." President Donald Trump added, "To be fair, that is how both sides behave," effectively acknowledging a structure in which major powers back opposing camps in international conflicts.
His latest remarks mark a subtle shift from about a week ago, when he strongly pushed back against a question at The White House about whether Russia might be aiding Iran. At that time, President Donald Trump openly showed displeasure when Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked him about the issue.
President Donald Trump held a phone call with Vladimir Putin earlier this week. However, it has not been confirmed whether Russia is actually providing military support to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Steve Witkoff, a United States special envoy, said in an interview with CNBC, "During that call, the Russian side said they were not sharing information with Iran." He added, "We have no choice but to take them at their word," and continued, "We truly hope they are not sharing any information."
