According to The Financial News, Chinese flag carrier Air China is resuming flights on the Beijing–Pyongyang route after a six-year hiatus, effectively reconnecting China and North Korea not only by rail but also by air.
Industry sources said on the 13th that Air China will restart its Beijing-to-Pyongyang service from the 30th of this month.
The route has been suspended since 2020 due to the spread of COVID-19 and is now being restored after six years. China also recently resumed passenger train services between Beijing and Pyongyang, likewise for the first time in six years.
With rail and air services between China and North Korea back in operation, people-to-people exchanges between the two sides are expected to gradually increase.
