According to The Financial News, a wife who went to see her husband immediately after a no-contact order expired and allegedly threatened him with a weapon has been taken into police custody.
On the 13th, Seoul Seongdong Police Station announced that a woman in her 50s, identified as A, has been booked on charges of special intimidation and is under investigation.
A is suspected of threatening her husband B, who is in his 60s, with a kitchen knife at their home in Seongdong District, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 17th of last month.
At the time of the incident, B reportedly called the police saying, "My wife, whose no-contact order has just ended, came home and is threatening me with a weapon."
Responding to the report, police separated the couple at the scene, seized the weapon used in the alleged offense, and brought A in for questioning without detention. B was found not to have suffered any significant injuries.
Police have applied urgent ad hoc measures to A and are investigating the exact circumstances of the case. Urgent ad hoc measures are a system that allows authorities, when there is a risk of repeated domestic violence, to order the perpetrator to stay away from the victim or leave the residence.
A police official stated, "The husband and wife are both claiming to be victims, so we are working to determine the exact facts."
