The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on the 12th that Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), inspected a key munitions factory under the Second Economic Committee on the 11th with his daughter Kim Ju Ae. The facility produces pistols and other portable light weapons. KCNA released a photo showing Kim firing a pistol at an indoor shooting range inside the factory, according to Yonhap News Agency.
[Financial News] Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, made public images of himself firing pistols with his eldest daughter Kim Ju Ae during an inspection of a munitions plant that manufactures pistols and other portable light weapons. It is highly unusual for Kim Jong Un and Kim Ju Ae to be shown shooting pistols together. North Korea has been protesting daily against the ROK-US Combined Military Exercise that began on the 9th.
KCNA reported on the 12th that Kim had provided on-the-spot guidance the previous day at a key munitions factory under the Second Economic Committee. The Second Economic Committee is the body responsible for planning and producing military supplies.
His daughter Kim Ju Ae accompanied him on the inspection and joined him in pistol shooting at an indoor range set up inside the factory. In the photos released by North Korea, Kim and Ju Ae, who matched his dress code by wearing a leather jacket, are seen firing pistols. The images show Kim Jong Un shooting alone, while Kim Ju Ae is shown firing alongside military officials who took part in the inspection.
According to KCNA, Kim assessed the combat performance of a "new-type pistol" by test-firing it at the factory and expressed his satisfaction.
Earlier, on the 27th of last month, Kim Ju Ae attended a ceremony where major party officials and military commanders were presented with newly developed sniper rifles produced by the Academy of Defence Sciences. At that event, she personally fired one of the sniper rifles.
