Financial News, New York – Reporter Lee Byung-chulKaroline Leavitt, spokesperson for The White House, held a press briefing on the 10th (local time) and stated, "The United States Navy (U.S. Navy) did not assist oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, contrary to what the energy secretary’s post claimed."

She added, "Of course, the U.S. Navy has not escorted any oil tankers or other vessels so far, although that remains one possible option," and went on, "I have not had an opportunity to speak with the United States Secretary of Energy about the misleading post that caused ripples in the energy market." She further explained, "That post was taken down fairly quickly."
Earlier that day, Christopher Allen Wright, U.S. Secretary of Energy, wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "President Donald Trump is maintaining global energy stability even amid military operations against the Islamic Republic of Iran," adding, "The U.S. Navy successfully escorted oil tankers transiting the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring that oil supplies to the global market continue."
Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported that this appeared to be the first tanker-escort operation since the United States and Israel launched military action against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
