Police said on the 10th that Seoul Bangbae Police Station had referred Jung to the prosecution the previous day without detention, after recognizing some of the charges including violation of the Anti-Stalking Act, defamation, and false accusation. However, the charge of indecent assault by abuse of authority was not included in the referral.
Earlier, Jung filed a complaint with police last December, claiming he had been stalked for six months by a researcher, identified as A, who worked at his institute as an affiliated researcher. In response, A filed a countersuit accusing Jung of indecent assault by abuse of authority and other charges.
Both sides later withdrew their complaints and submitted statements to police saying they did not wish to see the other punished. As a result, police did not investigate some of the alleged offenses.
On the 15th of last month, police had already referred A to the prosecution without detention on charges including housebreaking and violation of the Anti-Stalking Act.
