\r\r\rThe Financial News New York City, Lee Byung-chulAnother U.S. service member has been killed in the war between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The number of U.S. combat deaths has risen to seven in the week since the war began. U.S. military authorities have openly acknowledged that additional casualties are likely.
According to the United States Department of Defense (DoD) on the 8th local time, another U.S. service member has died in the war with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The soldier was critically wounded on the 1st, when Iran attacked a military base in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) where U.S. troops are stationed, and died while receiving treatment.
The U.S. military had been preparing to transfer the service member to a U.S. military hospital in Germany for further treatment, but he ultimately succumbed to his wounds that night. The military has not released his identity, citing the ongoing process of notifying the family.
This brings the total number of U.S. service members killed in the current war to seven.
The six previously killed U.S. troops died in an Iranian drone attack at Port Shuaiba in Kuwait. They were members of the Army Reserve.
U.S. President Donald Trump attended a dignified transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in the state of Delaware on the 8th, watching in person as the coffins of the fallen service members returned to the United States.
Since the war began, at least 20 people have been killed in retaliatory attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran. The dead include not only U.S. troops but also people from Israel and other countries in the Middle East.
By contrast, reports indicate that far more people have been killed in the Islamic Republic of Iran as a result of attacks by the United States and Israel. The Iranian Red Crescent Society stated last week that about 800 people had died, while Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations claimed the death toll had exceeded 1,300.
