[The Financial News] The White House said on the 6th (local time) that the Iran military operation, now entering its second week, is proceeding smoothly as the United States moves to secure control of Iranian airspace. It projected that the objectives of the current operation will be achieved within four to six weeks.
Meeting with reporters at the White House, Karoline Leavitt made these remarks and then, regarding the selection of the next leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said, "I understand there are several individuals under review by our intelligence community and the U.S. government," adding, "I will not go into further detail beyond that."
United States President Donald Trump has repeatedly declared his intention to intervene in the process of choosing the next leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, following the death of Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Hosseini Khamenei in U.S. and Israeli airstrikes.
Leavitt, commenting on President Trump’s statement earlier in the day that "the only deal with Iran will be unconditional surrender," explained, "What he means is that once we determine that Iran no longer poses a threat to the United States and that the objectives of Operation Epic Fury have been fully achieved, Iran will be in a state of unconditional surrender, whether or not it formally announces its surrender."
