HANOI, Vietnam – As Samsung Electronics' next-generation smartphone Galaxy S26 series officially launched in the Vietnamese market on the 6th, long lines formed in front of major stores from the early hours as local customers rushed to be among the first to get their hands on the new devices.
According to local media reports on the 9th, the Galaxy S26 series went on sale that morning across Vietnam through major mobile device retailers such as CellphoneS, Mobile World Investment Corporation (The Gioi Di Dong), and Di Dong Viet. Large stores in Ho Chi Minh City, in particular, were packed from early morning with people eager to purchase the new Galaxy models, underscoring the intense interest.
CellphoneS, a leading Vietnamese retailer, announced that pre-orders recorded at about 160 stores nationwide on the 6th alone reached roughly 3,000 units. This represents an increase of about 40% compared with the previous generation. A CellphoneS representative said, "We were able to confirm the explosive interest of Vietnamese consumers in the Galaxy S26 series from the very first day of launch," adding, "In particular, the top-tier model, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, accounted for about 90% of all reservations, enjoying overwhelming popularity."
Mobile World Investment Corporation, the country’s largest distribution network, also reported around 3,300 pre-orders on the 6th, with more than 90% of customers choosing the Ultra model.
Another retailer, Di Dong Viet, stated that the number of pre-order customers was 1.5 times higher than for the Galaxy S25 series. By model, the Ultra version accounted for 85% of orders, while the standard and Plus models made up the remaining 15%.
A Di Dong Viet representative noted, "We delivered about 150 units to customers within just one hour of the launch," and added that more than 500 units were sold on the 6th alone.
Local consumers are seen as giving high marks to the Galaxy S26 series for its anti-theft screen feature, improved camera performance, and innovative AI functions.
In Vietnam, the Galaxy S26 series is priced between about 26 million and 52 million dong, depending on the model. However, with various launch promotions and discounts, the actual purchase price is expected to be significantly lower, which is likely to draw even more local customers to stores.
