The CIO announced in a press notice on the afternoon of the 6th that it had requested the Central Disciplinary Committee of the Ministry of Personnel Management to impose severe disciplinary action on three of the four investigators found to have committed misconduct. It requested lighter disciplinary action for the remaining one. The three investigators facing severe disciplinary measures have also been referred to investigative authorities.
A CIO official stated, "We uncovered this case through our own internal inspection," adding, "We take very seriously the fact that such conduct occurred within an agency tasked with investigating crimes committed by public officials."
The official went on to say, "The exact level of disciplinary action and any potential criminal liability will be determined through the forthcoming disciplinary and investigative procedures," and added, "At this stage, it is difficult to disclose detailed information about each individual case."
