According to The Financial News, KakaoTalk has added a feature that lets users hide unwanted posts or updates from specific friends in the Friends tab News Feed.
Kakao recently carried out its second regular KakaoTalk update of the year, the company said on the 7th.
With this update, users can now easily hide posts they do not want to see in the Friends tab News Feed.
If a user wants to hide a specific post, they can open the More menu and select "Hide post" to exclude updates from that particular friend from the feed.
Previously, there was a "Hide Friend" feature, but using it removed that friend not only from the feed but also from the entire friends list, which was inconvenient.
The new option allows users to keep someone in their friends list while hiding only their posts. The hide-post setting can be changed or canceled at any time.
Users can adjust these settings in the Friends section under Settings, by going to Hidden Friends management and choosing to show them again.
The update also enables call recording in FaceTalk. Call recording, which was previously available only in Voice Talk, has been expanded so that one-on-one FaceTalk calls can now be recorded for up to 30 minutes.
After the call ends, users can take advantage of a feature where Kakao AI provides a summary of the conversation.
In addition, the update introduces per-comment notification settings in Open Chat.
Users now have more control, such as turning off notifications for new replies to comments they have written, or turning on notifications for comments they have not participated in.
A new Discover tab has also been added to the emoji keyboard.
There, users can easily browse free emojis offered every Monday, personalized emoji recommendations, and real-time popularity rankings all in one place.
The Talk Cloud home screen has also been redesigned.
Photo and file browsing functions have been enhanced so that users can view shared photos, files, and links directly from the home screen. Useful features such as people-based photo grouping and Drive have been arranged to improve data access and management convenience.
