According to Financial News, President Lee Jae Myung announced on the 6th via X (formerly Twitter), "I will meet you in North Chungcheong Province, the central axis that connects the east, west, south, and north of the Republic of Korea," signaling the upcoming town hall meeting in the province. This will be his 11th town hall meeting to discuss the future of local regions together with the public.
President Lee stated, "North Chungcheong is the only inland province in the country without a sea, but it has turned its geographical characteristics into strengths and completed a transportation network that connects in all directions." He added, "On top of infrastructure that includes Cheongju International Airport and Osong Station, advanced industries such as semiconductors, secondary batteries, and bio are taking root, and the province is growing into a key hub that will support our future economic base."
However, President Lee stressed, "The achievements of regional development must not remain only in the indicators," and emphasized, "It is time to create a virtuous cycle in which the fruits of advanced industries lead to greater vitality in the local economy and a higher quality of life for residents." He went on to say, "What matters most is the voices of the residents of North Chungcheong Province," calling on people to take part.
The North Chungcheong town hall meeting will be held on the 13th, and 200 residents of North Chungcheong Province will be recruited to participate. The time and venue will be announced later for security reasons.
Applications will be accepted via Naver Form until 12:00 p.m. on the 9th. The announcement noted that entry may be restricted if identity cannot be verified, and therefore asked applicants to accurately provide their name and resident registration number when applying.
