[Financial News] K-pop group Cortis has surpassed cumulative sales of 2 million copies with its debut album "COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES," earning the title of a so-called "double million seller." Only two K-pop groups have ever sold more than 2 million copies with a debut album: ZEROBASEONE and Cortis.
Cortis debut album surpasses 2 million in cumulative sales
According to the latest weekly album chart (February 22–28) released by Circle Chart on the 5th, Cortis (Martin, James, Juhoon, Seonghyeon, Keonho) has seen its debut album "Color Outside the Lines" exceed 2 million copies in cumulative sales.
Since its release in September last year, "Color Outside the Lines" has continued to sell steadily even after the initial one-week sales tracking period, known as first-week sales, ended.
Sales climbed from 500,000 in September to 1 million in November, then reached 2 million four months later in March, showing that its popularity has remained solid over time. Standard editions and Weverse editions, as well as various versions such as the CORTIS The 1st EP [COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES] (Singing Bowl version), Vinyl, and the CORTIS Ball edition, have repeatedly sold out almost immediately whenever they are restocked, reflecting sustained demand.
Their long-running success is also evident on the latest Billboard charts dated March 7. "Color Outside the Lines" has stayed within the ranking range of major album charts, including World Albums, for 25 consecutive weeks. In particular, on Top Album Sales, which tracks physical album sales, the album rose nine spots from the previous week to No. 24, marking a second straight week of climbing the chart.
This momentum stems from a series of high-profile performances and media appearances that have drawn in new fans. Cortis recently became the first K-pop act ever to perform on a flagship event stage during NBA All-Star Weekend, and they also recorded "Mention Me" for the soundtrack of GOAT, a new film from major Hollywood studio Sony Pictures Animation. In addition, the group’s own content, which shows the members’ unfiltered daily lives and behind-the-scenes moments, has played a significant role in attracting fresh fandom.
Meanwhile, Cortis is delighting fans with an unconventional collaboration by premiering the lyrics of "YOUNGCREATORCREW," a track from their upcoming release that was first teased at their U.S. concert, through Hancom Typing Practice. The lyrics appear in the service’s Acid Rain typing game and in online transcription content, offering fans a playful new way to engage with the song.
