According to Financial News, public anger has grown after it belatedly emerged that a Korean man in his 40s was beaten by three local men in Delhi, Republic of India.
On the 3rd, the JTBC program "Case Chief" featured the story of Mr. A, a Korean employee dispatched to the Republic of India.
On December 31, 2024, while Mr. A was driving home from work, he got into a dispute with a car that abruptly cut into his lane. Mr. A flashed his high beams and honked to protest the dangerous lane change, whereupon the other vehicle deliberately rammed his car and forced him to stop.
Three local men got out of the other car and smashed the hood, side windows, and side mirrors of Mr. A's vehicle. Footage recorded by Mr. A shows one of the men grabbing a side mirror and shaking it violently.
Mr. A then stepped out and used his phone to film the license plate of the other car. The group responded by pushing him with their vehicle and tried to flee. When Mr. A continued to pursue them, they got out again and assaulted him as a group. A police officer at the scene witnessed what happened but reportedly did little to intervene.
Mr. A filed a complaint against the assailants, but local investigators only charged them with simple bodily injury and property damage. Allegations of retaliatory driving and intentional collision were reportedly left out of the indictment.
Although a year has passed since the incident, not a single court hearing has been held so far.
Mr. A said, "I was told that one of the attackers is a man of considerable wealth and the other two are his bodyguards. On top of that, I am the victim and also a foreigner, so I cannot help but suspect this is why the trial is being delayed," expressing his deep frustration.
