According to The Financial News, President Lee Jae-myung, who is on a state visit to the Philippines, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on the 4th, "Using the investigative and prosecutorial powers entrusted by the people to realize justice to fabricate evidence and manipulate cases in order to kill, rob, and confine someone is an act even worse than robbery or kidnapping and murder committed by ordinary criminals."
In the same post, President Lee shared an article titled "Kim Sung-tae says he did not give money to Lee Jae-myung... claims the prosecution is playing games" reported by Citizen Media Dandelion.
The report stated that Citizen Media Dandelion had obtained about 1,600 pages of documents from the Ministry of Justice Special Inspection Team. It claimed these materials included a recording in which former Ssangbangwool chairman Kim Sung-tae, during a meeting with an associate, said in effect that "Ssangbangwool never gave money to Lee Jae-myung." The outlet also raised suspicions that the prosecution service may have led or coaxed certain statements during questioning.
Lee has previously used X to highlight controversies over the prosecution service's investigations and evidence, repeatedly criticizing what he describes as evidence fabrication.
