BOK Governor Rhee Chang-yong to Attend BIS Governors’ Meeting on Weeklong Trip

According to The Financial News, BOK Governor Rhee Chang-yong will embark on a weeklong overseas trip to attend the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) Governors’ Meeting and related events.
The BOK said on the 3rd that Rhee will depart on the 4th for Basel, Switzerland, to take part in the BIS Governors’ Meeting. He will attend the Global Economy Meeting and the Meeting of Governors, and, in his capacity as a BIS board member, he will also join the board meeting and the Economic Consultative Committee.
As chair of the Committee on the Global Financial System (CGFS), he is scheduled to preside over discussions on key issues facing the global financial system.
On the 5th, Rhee will deliver a keynote speech at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) "Asia in 2050 Conference" in Bangkok, Thailand. His speech will address the theme, "Asia’s Future: Can It Continue to Be the Engine of Global Growth?"
He will then join a policy discussion session on "Future Challenges for Central Banks in Asia." There, he plans to exchange views on the region’s economic outlook, risk factors, and the conduct of monetary policy by Asian central banks.
Rhee is scheduled to return to Korea on the 11th after completing all official engagements.
