[The Financial News] As the film "The King's Warden" approaches 10 million moviegoers, a heartwarming story about director Jang Hang-jun has come to light and is drawing fresh attention.
Actor Kim Yong-seok, who appears in the film as Vice Minister of Punishments Yu Gwi-san, posted a message on his social media on the 28th of last month titled, "Live your life like Jang Hang-jun from 'The King's Warden'." In the post, he shared his thoughts on appearing in "The King's Warden" and recounted an episode he experienced during filming.
Kim began by recalling, "While we were moving to the monitor during filming, I mentioned to the director that my baby had been born a few days earlier." He went on, "The director said, 'Yong-seok, give me your phone. I'll give you my number, so send me your home address. I'll send you diapers. You need a huge amount of diapers at first.'"
Because of his costume at the time, Kim could not immediately take out his phone and was unable to give the director his contact information. He said he was already deeply grateful just for Jang's words. However, the next day, Jang texted him first. The message was simple: "Yong-seok, it's me, Jang Hang-jun. Send me your home address and a photo of the diapers your baby uses."
Kim wrote, "Even though he was busy with the shoot, he somehow found my personal number and reached out to me, and he sent two boxes of diapers to my home." He added, "The loneliness I had felt as an actor, the pressure of becoming the head of a household after becoming a father, and my anxieties about myself all felt understood and comforted that day."
He continued, "Since that day, I've been quietly rooting for the director in my heart. I want to become someone who can offer this kind of comfort to others as well." He also said, "Now that the film is out, I sincerely hope the director's work will become an even bigger hit."

Meanwhile, "The King's Warden" drew more than 2 million viewers to theaters over the March 1st Independence Movement Day holiday alone, bringing its cumulative audience to 9.21 million as of the 2nd. Since its release on the 4th of last month, the film has maintained steady growth at the box office. At this pace, it is expected to reach the 10 million-viewer milestone by this coming weekend at the latest.
