According to Cheong Wa Dae (the Blue House), President Lee plans to hand over the gifts to the Singaporean prime minister and his spouse during a social event following the Korea–Singapore summit later this afternoon.
For Prime Minister Wong, the Korean side prepared a commemorative porcelain plate celebrating 50 years of diplomatic ties and a set of men’s cosmetics.
The porcelain plate features a tiger inspired by traditional Korean folk painting at its center, paired with a lion representing Singapore. Around them, symbolic landmarks of Korea and Singapore are depicted to visually express cultural exchange and harmonious coexistence between the two countries. The cosmetics set is from a leading K-beauty brand that combines traditional Korean herbal philosophy with modern dermatological science, using ingredients derived from ginseng.
For Prime Minister Wong’s wife, Loo Tze Lui, President Lee will present a Western-style tableware set made with traditional Korean brassware techniques and a scarf featuring line embroidery.
The tableware set is Western in form but crafted using Korea’s traditional brassware methods, characterized by its subtle golden sheen and well-balanced shapes. The scarf reinterprets traditional Korean patterns in a modern way. Cheong Wa Dae explained that the choice reflects the preference of many Singaporean women, who often wear scarves indoors to protect themselves from air conditioning.
