[The Financial News] Blackpink finally returns today (27th) at 2 p.m. KST with its third mini album, "Deadline." After expanding its global influence with a large-scale world tour that began last year, the group is now set to cap off that journey with its first full-group release in three years and five months, drawing intense interest from music fans worldwide.
As the title "Deadline" suggests, the album captures "Blackpink’s greatest, irreversible moments" and "the group’s present, shining brightest at those peak moments."
A message of courage and solidarity from all four members...the title track "GO"
With "GO," the second track on the album and its title song, Blackpink unleashes its signature upbeat, confident energy. The track combines a powerful sound design with an addictive melody, while the bold group chant, "Blackpink’ll make ya," delivers a message of courage and solidarity.
The album also includes five tracks in total: the pre-released hard-style EDM track "Jump (JUMP)," the retro hip-hop number "Me and My" that blends a sophisticated brass sound with a classic beat, the uplifting anthem "Champion" with hopeful melodies and lyrics, and "Fxxxboy," which highlights the members’ delicate, emotive vocal tones.
Leading international music outlets such as Billboard, Rolling Stone, and New Musical Express (NME) have been building anticipation by continuously covering promotions related to "Deadline." Billboard in particular noted that "after taking a small first step, Blackpink is preparing a big leap for BLINK," and, while breaking down striking scenes from the teasers, expressed expectations that the album would feature a "stylish" and "irresistible" concept.
"Confident this is the culmination of the team’s musical synergy"...once again proving their world-class status
Blackpink has continued to set numerous records on the strength of its formidable global influence. With its last full-group release, the second full-length album "BORN PINK," the group topped both of the world’s two major music charts—the Billboard 200 in the United States and the Official Albums Chart in the United Kingdom. It also became a double million seller, with 2.14 million copies sold as of September 2022 according to Circle Chart, and drew 1.8 million attendees on a single tour, setting multiple firsts for a K-pop girl group.
"Deadline" has shown strong momentum even before its release. Since full-scale album promotions began on the 15th, Blackpink has seen a steep rise in popularity, attracting an average of about 10,000 new subscribers per day and becoming the first artist in the world to surpass 100 million subscribers on YouTube.
YG Entertainment stated, "Even amid the breathless schedule of a massive world tour, we devoted a long time and great care to raising the album’s level of completion. We are confident this is the result of concentrating the four members’ musical capabilities and their synergy as a team," adding, "Please send lots of support to Blackpink, who are set to leave another meaningful mark on the global music market."
