[The Financial News] While in Chile for a performance, NMIXX member Haewon ended up in an alarming situation when an unidentified laser beam was directed at her during a birthday livestream.
On the 24th, Haewon held a birthday livestream from her accommodation in Viña del Mar, Chile.
NMIXX had traveled to Chile to become the first K-pop group to perform at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival, one of Latin America’s leading festivals, held from the 22nd to the 27th. With her birthday falling on the 25th, Haewon went live a day earlier to communicate with fans and keep the mood cheerful.
In the middle of the broadcast, a green laser beam was seen coming in from outside the window and shining into Haewon’s room.
In the video, Haewon, looking shocked, asked, "What are you doing right now?" as she tried to grasp what was happening. The laser attack did not stop there; every time she tried to continue speaking, the beam kept circling persistently around her face.
At one point, Haewon bit her lip and closed her eyes as if trying to hold back her anger, and she repeatedly turned around to look out the window, trying to find where the laser was coming from.
The footage was later posted on social media and various online communities, where it spread rapidly.
Online users reacted by saying things like, "I’ve never seen that expression on Haewon’s face before," "This is truly horrifying," and "There are people who keep shooting lasers during livestreams to figure out where celebrities live," expressing both concern for Haewon and anger toward whoever used the laser.
However, the reason for the incident and the exact circumstances have not yet been identified.
