Arts Council Korea (ARKO) announced on the 24th the annual exhibition program of the ARKO Art Center, which includes the first exhibition by multimedia art experimenter Camille Norment at an Asian art museum.
This year’s first exhibition, "Little Toad, Little Toad: Unbuilding Pavilion," which opened on the 6th, is the homecoming show of the Korean Pavilion from the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia. It revisits the 30-year history of the Korean Pavilion’s architecture and reconfigures the exhibition that was presented in Venice last year.
Un-tuned Time, a two-person exhibition by Oh Min and Camille Norment, will run from May 22 to July 19. The show is linked to the ARKO Visual Arts Creative Practitioners Support Program.
Norment represented the Norwegian Pavilion at the 2015 Venice Biennale and received the Nam June Paik Art Center Prize in 2023. Oh Min has been selected for the ARKO Multi-year Support Program for Visual Arts Creators for 2024–2026.
The exhibition dismantles hierarchies of time and perception through multimedia works spanning video, installation, sound, and performance, while exploring possibilities of coexistence and resonance.
The Thematic Curated Exhibition "Art School" (working title) will be held from August 7 to September 27. Under the theme of "art as education," it reflects on educational systems and the art ecosystem, highlighting diverse practices in schools, collectives, studios, and more.
In October, the "Special Exhibition of the Collection" will take place from October 16 to November 29. Drawing on works accumulated since the center opened in 1974, it retraces the exhibition history of the ARKO Art Center and examines the trajectory of contemporary art in Korea.
At the end of the year, the center will present a collaborative exhibition in connection with the Regional Arts Leap Support Program. Running from December 18 to February 14, 2027, it will showcase new works by promising regional artists. The initiative aims to expand opportunities for regional artists to meet audiences at key venues in other regions.
ARKO Art Center stated, "By strengthening links with ARKO support programs, this will be an exhibition that expands the identity of 'discovery and experimentation' that has continued for over 50 years."
