According to Financial News, Jeon Han-gil, a former Korean history instructor turned YouTuber, has filed a complaint against Cheong Wa Dae deputy spokesperson Ahn Gwi-ryeong, who grabbed the barrel of a martial law soldier’s rifle at the National Assembly during the December 3 emergency martial law incident.
On the morning of the 24th at Yeongdeungpo Police Station, Jeon and former ROK-SWC 707th Special Mission Group commander Kim Hyun-tae submitted a complaint accusing Ahn of attempted robbery of military property, attempted aggravated robbery, and obstruction of special official duties, among other charges.
Before filing the complaint, Jeon told reporters, "Deputy spokesperson Ahn claimed that the martial law troops threatened civilians with guns and that she herself was threatened, and that is how the incident was presented to the public. In reality, it was an attempted gun seizure," adding, "The truth is that Ahn, together with citizens including the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), tried to seize the martial law troops’ firearms in order to provoke a riot."
He continued, "You can also see people nearby trying to help her. This was not a simple protest or accidental contact, but a coordinated attempt to seize a firearm with divided roles," stressing, "Even if Deputy Spokesperson Ahn had not acted that way, there was more than enough basis to lift martial law."
Meanwhile, Jeon announced that he plans to take legal action, claiming that the "Jeon Han-gil Concert," which was scheduled to be held next month at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, was canceled due to the intervention of Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon.
