[The Financial News] People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk on the 24th responded to DPK leader Jung Chung-rae’s proposal for a meeting between ruling and opposition party leaders to reach an agreement on the special bill on the administrative integration of Daejeon and South Chungcheong Province by demanding that the plenary session of the National Assembly scheduled for that day be halted first.
Appearing on Channel A the same day, Jang referred to the DPK’s attempt to push the administrative integration bill through the Legislation and Judiciary Committee of the National Assembly and the plenary session. He argued, "The stance of rushing it through the Legislation and Judiciary Committee and the plenary session does not align with the call for dialogue," and urged, "If they are sincere, they should first stop forcing it through the committee and the plenary session, and then hold discussions."
The previous day, Jung had proposed talks with Jang to reach an agreement on the Special Act on the Establishment of the Chungnam-Daejeon Integrated City. However, on that same day, the bill was placed on the agenda of a full meeting of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee at the initiative of the DPK, and the plenary session, initially set for the 26th, was moved up to the 24th. The administrative integration bill, however, has not yet been approved by the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, so it remains uncertain whether it will be brought to the plenary session on this day.
