[Financial News] Presiding Judge Ji Gui-yeon of Criminal Division 25 at the Seoul Central District Court, who in the first-instance trial sentenced former President Yoon Suk Yeol to life imprisonment as the ringleader of an insurrection, is reportedly being assigned to handle civil damages cases related to traffic and industrial accidents at the Seoul Northern District Court.
According to the Seoul Northern District Court on the 22nd, the court decided on the 19th, after deliberation by its case-allocation committee, to assign Judge Ji to the Civil Division 6 Single-Judge Panel of the Seoul Northern District Court.
The Civil Division 6 Single-Judge Panel handles damages claims involving traffic and industrial accidents. It mainly deals with cases in which traffic-accident victims seek medical expenses and other costs from perpetrators or insurers, and cases where industrial-accident victims file additional civil claims for losses not fully covered by industrial accident insurance.
He will begin his new duties on the 23rd.
