According to Financial News, the People Power Party has narrowed its candidates for a new party name to two options: "Future Alliance" and "Republican Party for Opening the Future."
As of the 21st, political sources said the party’s Brand Strategy Task Force has reached a consensus on these two names. The shortlist will be reported to the Supreme Council on the 22nd.
The new party name is expected to be finalized after deliberation by the Supreme Council and a general meeting of lawmakers, followed by a preference survey of party members.
However, there is still a possibility that a different name from the two proposed by the Task Force could be chosen at the final stage. The leadership aims to complete the renaming process within this month in preparation for the June 3 local elections, so that the new name can be used on banners and other materials starting on March 1. This will be the first name change for the People Power Party in about five and a half years; in September 2020, it changed its name from the United Future Party to the People Power Party.
