[Financial News] Jeong Cheong-rae, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, on the 20th criticized, "Is Jang Dong-hyuk, leader of the People Power Party, not just a ‘Yoon Again’ supporter but now Yoon Suk Yeol’s spokesperson?" and urged him to "get a grip."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Jeong said, "I would like to say a few words because Jang Dong-hyuk’s statement yesterday (the 19th) on former president Yoon Suk Yeol’s first-instance verdict in the insurrection trial came out as breaking news," explaining his criticism.
At a press briefing at the National Assembly on the same day, Jang commented on the first-instance verdict in the insurrection trial, saying, "They failed to present grounds sufficient to define the December 3 martial law declaration as an insurrection," and added, "Until the verdict is finalized, the presumption of innocence must apply to everyone."
In response, Jeong asked, "Are Yoon Suk Yeol and Jang Dong-hyuk some kind of ‘Yoon–Jang bloc’?" and condemned, "We denounce these remarks, which show a lack of historical awareness, a failure to understand democracy, a betrayal of public sentiment, and a blatant disregard for the spirit of the Constitution."
He went on to say, "This is abusive and outrageous language that lacks even the minimum sense of shame and basic common sense," and pointed out, "Jang has ultimately ignored and betrayed both the public’s demand to sever ties with the ‘Yoon Again’ faction and the calls from conscientious lawmakers within his own party."
