[Financial News] As the first trial verdict approaches for former President Yoon Suk Yeol, who has been indicted as the ringleader of insurrection, groups that defend the declaration of martial law gathered in front of the court.
At around 2 p.m. on the 19th, more than 300 people gathered for a rally organized by the New Freedom Coalition and the Korea Freedom National Coalition in front of Jeonggok Building near the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho District, Seoul. Participants waved national flags and held placards reading “Yoon Again” and “Dismiss the indictment,” chanting slogans such as “Dismiss the indictment.”
A supporter of the former president who took the stage said, “The lives of 25 million normal citizens depend on the gavel of Judge Ji Gui-yeon,” adding, “Considering that the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) has no investigative authority, dismissing the indictment is the reasonable outcome. We must defend the liberal democratic system.”
In front of Exit 9 of Gyodae Station, another pro-Yoon rally was held, organized by the Alliance for Election Fraud and the Freedom One Way Group. Hundreds of supporters raised placards reading “Death penalty for election fraud” and “Martial law was justified,” while chanting in succession, “Free the president,” “Yoon Again,” and “Dismiss the indictment.”
