A woman in her 20s, identified only as A, arrives at the Seoul Northern District Court on the 12th to attend a warrant hearing. She is suspected of causing the deaths of two men at a motel in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk District in northern Seoul. According to police, A allegedly gave a drink laced with drugs to a man in his 20s, identified as B, at a motel in Suyu-dong in Gangbuk District on the 9th, causing his death.
[Financial News] A woman in her 20s who was arrested on charges of killing two men by giving them drug-laced drinks at lodgings in the Gangbuk area of Seoul has been handed over to prosecutors while in custody.
Seoul Gangbuk Police Station announced on the 19th that A, who had initially been arrested on charges of causing bodily injury resulting in death and violating the Narcotics Control Act, has now been sent to the prosecution in custody on charges including murder, aggravated assault and violation of the Narcotics Control Act.
From mid-December last year until the 9th of this month, A is accused of giving drinks containing benzodiazepine-based drugs to three men in their 20s. Two of them died, and one suffered injuries.
According to police, A continues to deny having intent to kill, claiming she only meant to make the victims fall asleep and did not expect them to die.
However, police explained that they changed the charge to murder after determining that she was fully aware of the possibility of death. They cited the fact that she increased the dosage of the drugs after the first victim, along with evidence from a forensic analysis of her mobile phone.
Investigators plan to continue probing whether there are additional victims.
A police official stated, "We conducted profiler interviews to analyze the suspect's psychology," adding, "We will forward the results to the prosecution as soon as they are available."
