[Financial News] Koo Yun-cheol, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance, stated on the 18th, "I will do my utmost to understand the realities and challenges facing young people and to take the measures they need from their perspective."
Posting on X (formerly Twitter) the same day, Koo noted, "Unlike their parents' generation, which lived through a period of high growth, today's young people are facing many problems that we ourselves have never experienced." He went on, "Once the holidays are over, we plan to begin the process of hiring youth interns at the finance ministry and appointing members to a 2030 Advisory Panel," adding, "We will support young people's proposals so they can be reflected in actual policy."
To start, the ministry plans to select 35 youth interns in each half of the year. They will not be limited to simple clerical assistance but will be given substantive work, and the ministry intends to help them build job capabilities through training in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) and economics.
The 2030 Advisory Panel will consist of one youth aide and 20 panel members. Koo said, "We will regularly discuss youth issues such as jobs, housing, and education, diagnose their root causes from a youth perspective, and seek solutions."
