[Financial News] President Lee Jae-myung said, "A chance has come to change the Republic of Korea," adding, "I hope the new year will be one of hope for all our people, and that everyone will see their wishes come true."
On the afternoon of the Lunar New Year day, the 17th, Lee posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account that he had fulfilled his wish of gaining the "authority to work (the presidency)," and wrote that what remains now is to sprint at full speed.
Lee stated, "I did not become president just for the sake of becoming president," explaining, "It is because there were things I wanted to do with the powers of the presidency."
He went on to write, "What is needed is not power itself, but the authority to work," and noted, "This was the same appeal I made 20 years ago when I ran for Mayor of Seongnam, bowing low before the people."
He continued, "Carrying only a single wish in my heart, I have come this far, crossing countless valleys of death. Now that the opportunity has come, why would I not carry out that urgent task?" He added, "Whether it is overcoming the so-called real estate republic, building a safe and peaceful country, creating a fair and rational society, or making our nation one that grows and advances, I will cast off all fear, cherish every passing moment, and give everything I have."
